White Coats on Call Day

Our 2012 White Coats on Call “Surgeons Day” will be held on in conjunction with the Medical Society of Virginia (MSV) on Wednesday, February 15^th in Richmond.

There are a number of important matters affecting the delivery of health care in the Commonwealth that will be considered by our legislators. Click here to view MSV’s 2012 Legislative agenda.
 
Please make plans to attend so that you may visit with your Delegate and Senator and with other key members of the General Assembly committees and their staff that will be considering critical health care legislation.  Surgeons are needed to educate legislators who do not understand our specialty and why access is critical.  A high turnout will show our legislators our commitment to providing responsible health care.

Our plan is to meet in Richmond at 8:15am on February 15 at the Commonwealth Park Suites Hotel (901 Bank Street, Richmond VA 23219) for a brief organizational session and breakfast in conjunction with the Medical Society of Virginia’s staff before going over to the General Assembly Building.  Susan McConnell, Society Manager, will set up appointments with your legislators, although that may not be possible in every case.  Even without appointments, it is usually possible for constituents to meet with legislators or their legislative aides when they are not in committee meetings or floor sessions.  We will return to the Commonwealth Park Suites for a debriefing lunch around noon.  Overnight accommodations are available at the Commonwealth Park Suites Hotel; rooms can be secured under the VA-ACS room block for $112/night plus taxes. Please try to make the time to join your fellow surgeons at the 2012 Surgeons Day.  Please fill out the response form and we will do our best to make the most productive use of your day.  If you cannot attend in person, please still plan to communicate during the 2012 session with your legislators regarding health care issues.
