The 2007 Annual Meeting of the Virginia Chapter, American College of Surgeons will be held May 4 - 6 at the beautiful Homestead Resort in Hot Springs.
The program is full of interesting and informative lectures! We are delighted that David B. Adams, MD, FACS, Professor of Surgery and Head of the Section of General and Gastrointestinal Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina has agreed to serve as our Guest Speaker. Dr. Adams will discuss Surgical Management of Chronic Pancreatitis. There will be a panel discussion about the management of acute and chronic pancreatitis. Thomas W. Oliver, MD, FACS from the Urology Clinic of Winchester will address the Winchester Attending Faculty Plan - Deferred Compensation for ER Call. Paul Wills, MD, FACS will give an update on the
ACSPA-Surgeons PAC and Savi Pai, Esq. President of the Surgeons Diversified Investment Fund will hold two special sessions addressing the Fund – one specifically for residents and young surgeons about Planning Your Financial Future and a second one for all meeting registrants.
The Guest Speaker for the Virginia Surgical Society will be José G. Guillem, MD, FACS, Attending Surgeon at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Professor of Surgery at Cornell University Medical College, Director of Hereditary Colorectal Cancer Family Registry at MSKCC. Dr. Guillem will discuss "The Surgeons Role in Managing Hereditary Colorectal Cancer” and "Total Mesorectal Excision: Does it Obviate the Need for Radiation Therapy."
In addition, the Association of Women Surgeons, VA Chapter will also meet on Saturday, May 5. The theme this year is “Maintaining the Triple Threat.” The keynote address will be provided by Lena Napolitano, a well-known trauma surgeon and surgical intensivist from the University of Michigan, School of Medicine who has a plethora of contributions to the surgical literature. Our block of rooms at the Homestead is full - but don't let that stop you from attending the meeting! We are thrilled with the level of interest in the meeting. In an effort to continue to accommodate meeting registrants, here is a list of inns and motels less than five (5) miles from the Homestead. In addition, we encourage you to still make a reservation at the Homestead by faxing this form directly to the Homestead at 540/839-7922. They will include your name on a waitlist and accommodate your reservation request as rooms become available.
